Creating a pattern along a helical path

Hi, I am trying to cut a part that is notched along a helical path. Each notch is a fixed distance along the helix which is itself tapered. I have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance.

Have a look at this-I also uploaded this to the Binaries group in case it doesn't come across here. The two cut sketches (taper and notch) could be combined into one. Hope this helps.

Thanks. But actually, I need to have the notches along the helix. Similar to the circular feature pattern tool.

Sorry, I don't have a scanner to draw it by hand, but if you could imagine cutting a slot say every .1" along the edge of the auger attached above by Steve. That is essentially what I'm trying to to do.
